I tried to do a search on this but had no real luck. I was looking to upgrade
my stock pump to one of the Walbros from Racetronix with the wireharness etc. My question is which one? My sig shows my mods, Shift at about 67-6800 rpm. Also was thinking of adding a small 100hp shot of NOS in the future after package is dialed in N/A. I just want to make sure I have enough fuel for that later on. One pump listed is 60psi the other is 60psi+.
Also, Are both of these intank pumps? I want the intank version.
Both of the pumps are the intank version. Either one will be more than enough pump for your application. All you need is the GSS-307 the up to 60 PSI one. The 60 PSI+ model is for guys with supechargers and FMU's that run the injectors at 80+ psi or a dry nitrous kit whick does the same. Otherwise the regular kit will work perfect for you.
You don't need the high pressure Walbro, they are for S/C and Turbos at high boost (for instance base fp of 45psi with 25psi of boost equal 70psi of fuel pressure) I supose you could be cranking you fuel pressure over 60psi to compensate for small injectors. Fuel pumps flow more fuel at lower fuel pressures.
I just emailed Jack at racetronix and told him what I had. He made a harness to my needs and it works great. It even had a few extras I requested, like being able to turn the pumps (I'm using 2 pumps) on seperatly among other things.
I put the 340 in becasue I have 24 pound injectors and I have the option of running higher pressures if I need to. The Racetronix system is a first class piece of equipment. Trust me when I say this. All aftermarket part kits should be this easy to install and have the quality this kit does. You will NOT be disappointed.
Yeah a strong 383 like yours JD will run a set of 26# injectors well over 80% duty cycle. When I had mine my 30's were right at 80% and you don't want to be any higher than 80 really. You may want to think about some 30's for the future.
'Sup? Yep...The first thing I heard when I went to pick the car up was"That fuel pump helped, but you're using it up" That and my injectors are undersized. It'll be a LONG time until new injectors are needed(The friggin' super ram was off three times this season) and I'm tired of spending(for now). I will say it takes a LOT for a mechanic to come over and say"That was the nicest fuel pump I've ever put in a car....everything fit like it should and it was simple"
Thanks guys, I emailed racetronix and they say I need the HP pump for my
rwhp and rpm range. They also said my injectors are small for my combo.
With the price differnence of just $10 bucks I'm going to go ahead and get the
HP pump. Thanks Again!
Thanks guys, I emailed racetronix and they say I need the HP pump for my rwhp and rpm range.
They are pulling your chain. A low pressure pump will do approx 700hp at 60psi, I just can't see you running higher fp than that. (even at 70psi you have enough fuel for 650hp) The injectors you have are fine also, especially for a sequential fi motor.
BTW This guy supplies all the Syclone/Typhoon owners. I don't know what racetronix is selling them for, but I think his prices are pretty reasonable. http://www.autoperformanceengineering.com/
Many people bump the FP very high to compensate for undersized injectors or to use an FMU etc.
For the extra $10.00 on top of $160.00 would it not be a good investment?
The 340 has a more efficient motor so it will draw less current at the same given flow / pressure as compared to the 307.
Many people fail to factor in the RPM range the motor will be pulled to when selecting an injector. The TTI (time to inject) window narrows quickly as RPM increases. Just because an injector might be large enough to support 500HP on a 6000RPM application does not mean that it would be large enough to provide enough fuel on a 7000RPM application.
