Default Complete Top End / Exhaust Upgrade Write Up

Hello all! Lot's of you have helped me with various problems on my car and given lots of advice, many have also helped me plan out what performance mods to do and I know Vader has been a lot of help with that. I am making this thread so that anybody who wants to upgrade the performance on there LT1 Corvette can have a list of all parts used as well with pictures and hopefully video of the whole thing being done. I will have a running parts list of everything I use, as well as videos and pictures as things get done. This project will likely run through late December if not early January and every aspect of it will be put here. I will also be leaving any questions that come up along the way here and hopefully turn this into a all inclusive build guide for people in the future. Some parts I won't have an exact $ amount for until I purchase them, as I buy things I will move it up to the obtained parts list and add the price I bought it for. Anything in the needed list is a estimate. Right now I do have a few questions which are in parenthesis next to some of my parts. For sake of documentation please quote them if you answer so as I move parts up others will still be able to see what the answer goes to.

Okay so the first thing that has been done so far is my exhaust. Right now all I have done is replace the exhaust tips with some 3.5" dual tips. I also got the resonator cut out and a custom X-Pipe installed. I can't upload video directly to here but I will link a video when I get the chance to get it uploaded. Until then here is a before/after picture.

Good start with the docs, as I will be doing the same shortly. You might want to consider 1995 Impala SS Head Gaskets. From what I've read, a little thinner, and boost Comp Ratio approx.25. The increase in HP was about 14. No side effects noted in the articles. Hey Heads are off, might as well pick up more HP. Google it.

Thanks for the tip, I will do!

Update #2
The Impala SS head gasket is discontinued but Mr Gasket makes one that is 0.026 compressed so that is what I will be going with. It is also much cheaper than the Fel-Pro Corvette ones. Link added to original post.

I have seen some people saying that doing top end on a 100k mile bottom end could be asking for trouble. Can anybody give me some $ estimations for two options. Option 1 being just tuning up the bottom end to help alleviate those problems and option 2 being a 383 stroker. Thanks!

Are LS7 lifters still the standard for upgrading? If so does anybody have the current part # for them?

Hello everybody, this will be the first major update to the build thread. I have almost finished taking everything out that needs to get shipped to Lloyd Elliot. The big thing right now is getting to the head bolts that are under the exhaust manifold. I am doing headers anyway so I just gotta figure out how to get it out. Here are some pictures

My write up will get much more detailed and all for the putting it together process. Taking stuff apart is easy. I would just suggest that your LABEL EVERYTHING. Every screw and connector and bolt should be labeled.

Just remove the exhaust manifolds throw them in the trash and clear out some room.

Use this thread as a guide. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...long-pics.html

That is the plan! I already have a set of mid-length headers I plan on putting on it. I would have gone long tube but I got a set of Hooker Super Comps for 367 header + ceramic coating so that's what I'll be using for now.

I might've fucked up. I used a 6 side wrench for this bolt and somehow still managed to round it. Does anybody have any ideas on how I can recover from this?
