Hey everyone, I’m new to the Vette family and member. I have gotten a lot of useful info just scrolling through for a month or 2 and finally decided to join thanks for having me. Anyways I was wondering what year Vette alternators work with the 84 crossfire, just going through a number of sensors and part replacement to get her back to her former glory.
Oh and if anyone is having trouble with low or rough idle and can’t figure out why, try replacing the radiator cap, it’s part of your vacuum system. That bugged the hell out of me for 2 weeks
You know if anyone tried out any other years in the c4 family for the crossfire, 85 or up? I know all c4’s have same parts/builds but the crossfire is like the bastard child of C4 and just has to be a little different on certain things!

Ok, I have an 84 CF Vette, and I know they are "quirky" and a bit "different", but how in the world is the radiator cap part of the vacuum system?

I have been working on CFI for 30+ years, 82/84 corvette and 82/83 camaro, firebird and trans am and have NEVER run across a vacuum leak in the motor related to the cooling system...EVER! The only thing that gets checked in the way of vacuum on the cooling system is to pump in down to the cap rating,1-2psi more and and see if it holds which means that you are good and the system is tight. Again...
