hi guys.
I'm having some trouble reassembling fuel sending unit.
1. I've found that grey bumper ring (first photo) that i don't know if it came from old pump or from new package. Anyway I put in line after dampener to keep it firmly in place. Could be work for you?
or should be placed other way?
2. Also I'm not be able to recall if dampener has a flow side or it is the same both?
3. the rubber black spacer at the top of the pump is in it's right position?

1. Don't recall seeing that when I changed the pump in my '96. These pumps fit a variety of vehicles and the replacement kits often contain parts that aren't applicable to all
2. That is called a pulsator and I also don't recall it being directional.
3. Can't see a clear picture of the spacer.
Very soon I will post some other photos about this work.
A strange thing has happened to my car, I'm not be able to get what exactly happened (water in tank)
Well I've made this work due no hearing fuel pump buzz when key on. Now is ok.
car before broken the pump was sit for a while in the outdoor (about 6 months during fall winter) After 6 months I've decided to make a ride. During this ride car had a very irregular idle and lack of power at low rpm (first failing pump symptoms???). Then I came back home and few days later car never started anymore.
Well the strange thing is that I've found water inside gasoline removed from tank, also water in the old fuel pulsator, still I have to replace the fuel filter and I suppose could be some water even in fuel line...(I don't know)
I've removed the old tank gasket and there was a lot of rust there and even on fuel sending unit flange.
Any idea from where this water came from? So better to check some other part can be broken to avoid this problem again? (Vapor tank?)
Gas cap close well already check it with a black marker on gas cap gasket the black color is reported to the filler neck..
I've heard some rumors about old gasoline can get water trapped in due to moisture condensation...

I am not.sure if you have ethanol added to your gasoline in Italy like we do in the USA but here they add 10% (some have 15%). Ethanol, like alcohol, will attract water. When you park your car for any amount of time make sure the tank is full and this will help. Other than that there should not be a way for water intrusion if the seal around the cap is watertight.

Yes we have an ethanol added gasoline about 5% here in italy too...

If the car sits outside, make sure the drain under the fuel door is clear, otherwise water will start to pool in that area and cause rust on top of the tank and around the sending unit.

Just to make an upgrade. I already had replaced fuel pump. Today filter and purged all fuel lines from old gasoline. Engine has started to the first hit.
well done
