ET difference from gear swap 88 Auto

plan of attack on this one is:
H/C 350, 3.31 or deeper whatever is available
or H/C 383...if it pulls well enough may keep this gear.
No real ET goal in mind but its just too far off the mark & wouldnt consider 3.07 a performance gear .
Feedback on your gear change?

Did you have to do anything so the speedo reads right?
I hear you on "feels like a vette'
Great part throttle driver but it ends there.

With stock gears and A4 mods, along with a few engine things, my prior '88 was pulling low 13s @105mph shifting at ~6k RPM. Had cold air, 160 T-stat, Pro Magnum 1.6:1s, some exhaust, stock headers, heads & cam.
One great spring day at Englishtown, with a DA of -1,500ft she pulled a 13.017sec ET...best ever.
Even with that mild setup on streets I had to 2-step off the line even with a well prepped track and slick tire rubber laid down previously.
Installed a DIY dump valve on the transmission. Converter issues solved.
I use it to bypass the converter and dump fluid back into the pan, so the converter stalls up much higher and much faster.
Works great for both transbrake and footbrake launches to loosen up a tight converter.
There are several types. You can also use them to increase converter pressure by putting it inline with the outlet circuit, to tighten up a loose converter.
Pulse Width Modulated solenoids for dump valves can be used to change converter pressure on the fly to loosen it up on launch and tighten it up at higher speeds.
Lots of options.
I use a $30 steam valve from Amazon. Took about 30 minutes to install and I activate it with my transbrake button. Seems to work beautifully.
