"disconnect the distributor set-timing connector" Is that the same wire you disconnect when you time the car? The book calls that the "Electronic Spark timing(EST) connector. If its not the same connection whats the correct connection and where is it?

Yes, it's the same connector that you disconnect to set the base timing.
