Well it is absolutely, positively a necessity, nitrous that is…. I have decided that my ruby LT1 is in need of a little extra punch. I am considering a NX system and spraying a 100 shot. I will have a WOT switch, purge, fuel and oil pressure sensor. I am a man that like neat toys so I will be getting every gage I an find… So what I would like to know is what plugs should I run and what type of timing retard system should I get and where should I get it from? And if you have any other info you think I may need it would be greatly appreciated… This will be the first N2O system I will be using or having any contact with for that fact so I am dumb as a brick. Thanks, I will be holding my breath with anticipation for your reply. Please hurry I am turning blue.. :seeya
oh and should I up my injector size? right now it's stock. would bigger ones help out with the fuel and also how about a fuel pump any recommendations?
Re: nitrous help, need some info from the pro's (fsr402)
By no means do I consider myself a pro but I'll see if I can help anyways. For plugs I called http://www.speeddemonmotorsports.com just tell them what you need and they'll hook you up.
The best price I could find for my NX kits were at http://www.nitrouswarehouse.com you WILL pay less than what they have listed on the website. I got my nitrous kit with a genIII pack shipped to my door for under $1000
And as for timing, I didn't mess with it, the NX kit works just fine without changing anything, even at a 150 shot. I talked with John Stewart, the guy that came up with the stuff, and he advised me to leave it.
Oh, and make sure you get the big bottle! you'll love it so much you are going to need it. I get about 8 good passes with a 150 shot on the 15# bottle. However, if you are going to mount it in your spare tire compartment you will have to get a little 10# bottle.
Re: nitrous help, need some info from the pro's (fsr402)
That might be a problem!!! The aftermarket chips tend to advance the timing. That could mean :lurk: and good bye engine with the nitrous. That's why on a custom chip you need to specify if it is for a nitrous application or not. I would suggest switching back to the stock chip or getting a new custom chip.
Well, with a hypertech they might only use it to adjust things dealing with the thermostat. I'm not sure, you might want to call them and find out. I've got a friend that had some problems with his torque converter and the lock up for it with different thermostats and not a chip to go with it, but it was an fbody lt1. I didn't have any problems with mine, but if yours is a 6-speed you won't have to worry about that.

No pro here either, but here's my setup. 150 shot from NOS kit #5174. This system runs directly off the TPS. Plugs? I am using stock AC Delcos. Ignition? MSD Digital 6 to a MSD Blaster coil, through MSD Super Conductor wires. MSD rev set at 6200 rpm, and retarded 5 degrees when the nitrous solenoid fires. Stock engine program, but using the Hypertech for the fan and shifting features. Fuel injector size is no problem for what you are considering.

ok I'm confused I see you talking about the MSD stuff do you have any pictures of it installed so I can get a better idea what it is that I will have to do?

If you are new to N2O. I suggest you don't rush into installing a kit yet. Do a lot of research, read and learn first. One mis-use you will possibly lose your motor. Install all the safety features and have it tuned on dyno. 2 yrs a ago, my car mods with head/cam package and later I have Agostino Racing Engine install and tuned my NX kit only jetted 100hp. On the dyno it lean out at 4300rpm. At the same they installed dual 255lph fuel pumps, intank and inline. The lean fuel caused by a old fuel filter. They replaced the old fuel filter, problem solved. IF this was not tuned on dyno and play on the street I would have lost my motor.

Now you say that you ran "lean" now was that with just gas or was that with the nos? I am reading everything I can find on nitrous and am going to tweek the car to get it running the best i can before installing the nos and I'm also looking for a dyno to play with.. I will be taking my time and making SURE everything is right... Thanks for the help.
