Has anyone replaced original sunvisors with something from another car?
The original C4 sunvisors have pretty cheap cardboard that don't seem like they will last long even if replaced with original ones
If anyone has used something that is sturdier from another (even non GM) car let us know what you used and what to look for.
At least one forum member found junkyard visors that seemed to have worked well and looked good. I don't recall exactly what they were, but IIRC, they were from a Chrysler product. For an alternative to consider, I removed my visors, opened up their ends with the floppy ears, removed that portion of the cardboard, trimmed the fabric covering to a suitable length, and re-stitched the fabric. Obviously, this leaves you with a shorter visor that doesn't fully block the sun in the upper corners of the windshield, but IMHO it looks one hell of a lot better than the floppy eared mess that previously existed. If I were to do it again, the only thing I'd do differently would be to trim the new corner of the remaining substrate to a larger radius than what I did, to better match the other corner.
Surgery begins:
Amputation complete, with enough fabric remaining to extend beyond the substrate for stitching up:
I had mine recovered in black vinyl at the local upholstery shop. They came out great. The cardboard inside had deteriorated so badly that dust kept coming out of them. I also removed the floppy ears.

Pretty sure the repos I bought a few years ago have vinyl inside instead of cardboard. They have held up well except the fabric has faded more than the originals.
Years ago I opened up the visors on my '88, bought some cardboard, marked out the pattern then wetted the center of the new cardboard bent it to shape and held it till dry.
Got new fabric at local shop, cut to shape and hand stitched it around.
Hardest part was getting the damn mirrors back into the visors.
Once was more than enough, now I'll just buy replacements...
