I don't find it great turning radius... like 20 feet or so? I think the later cars take more to turn but I'm not 100% sure. I know the front suspension changed.

My '89 takes quite a bit. I was surprised when I first got it. Some quick googling:

39 feet curb to curb for C6
40 for C5
41 for C4
37 Chevy Equinox

My C6 wasn't what I'd call good, either. Numbers above confirm.

Its all about the tire size the cars were designed for, big tires need a smaller steering wheel angle/ lock and larger turning circle.

A small car aka "pregnant roller skate" with small wheels, can have the wheels at greater angle and turn around on a dime.

We do have one advantage LSD rear, if we need to turn in the cars length we can squeeze the accelerator a touch to swing the rear around.
As long as no police are watching
They have no sense of turning circle or sense of humour

Do check you have the same turns to left and right from the wheel straight ahead position, in case the wheel alignment was done and steering wheel was repositioned afterwards. You would notice brake pull then too but have seen some dodgy alignments done....

Have a look at the front wheel tie rod end threads, are the about the same length thread left and right? That will tell you if the rack adjustment is off centre, affecting turning circle left or right.

You think the 93 radius is bad you should try it in the bigger lsx based vettes

My 84 with a manual Pinto steering rack and spool out back with slicks has about a 50' turning radius.

Changing tire sizes isn't going to improve the turning radius. You'd have to add more steering angle, but as gerardvg wrote, the steering is limited for a reason.

My '90 used to be pretty good and turned sharp both ways, until I took it in to have the rack replaced.

Now the right turns are wider than the left turns. I haven't adjusted it yet, but it seems like everything that particular mechanic touched, I've had to go back and fix right or have someone else fix right. Even had my battery stolen and someone's old mostly dead battery put in. They couldn't even be bothered to tighten clamps back down on hoses.

Needless to say, they'll never see my car again, I've since found an experienced Corvette mechanic for the bigger jobs where I'm either not experienced or just don't feel like doing it. And they're two miles down the road.

They put the steering wheel on the wrong splines - it's not centered in the rack's travel. An idiot dealership did this to a Passat I owned many moons ago instead of adjusting toe at the tie rods ends like any smart person, and it took me a while to figure it out. You need to put the rack itself exactly centered, with the inner tie rods the exact same distance out as one another. Then you'll doubtlessly see that the steering wheel is significantly off center. Pull the wheel off and put it back on the splines such that it, too, is centered. Then you'll probably need a serious adjustment to total toe to get the steering wheel to be straight again. But you'll be happy when you're done.

Yeah, pretty much what you said. The downer of it is the 1200 dollars I paid them to replace the rack in the first place. Normally I'd take it back on the assumption that they'd do it right the second time, but I don't want them touching the car again. For anything.

So, yeah, now the steering wheel is sitting at around the 11 o'clock position with the tires straight. And I can see the threads on the tie rod ends aren't even. The plan has been to make the adjustments the way you mentioned and then take it in to the tire shop for a good alignment. I do like the work those guys do. I've just not got around to it. Really haven't even driven the car that much this year. I do miss the way the car used to corner, though. Everything was dead center and I could pretty much make a perfect 90 degree turn either way.

Thanks for explaining that, though. Main reason I haven't messed with it is because I wasn't sure if I should drop the rack itself and start it all over myself. Doesn't seem like I have to. Reason I took it in to have the rack replaced the first time is because I didn't feel like trying to get that involved with it.

Would the ZO7 steering rack make a difference. Wasnt it a faster turning system?
I think allot of the C4 problem really is just clearance inside. Tires can only go so far within the fenderwell area. Correct me if i am wrong.

Faster steering ratio yes, higher max steering angle no.

Yes, not just the fender wells but also the sway bars, rear trailing arms, etc.
