guage temp sensor
runs just fine but temp guage only goes to about 110*. i cleaned the 'button type' connecter but no change.
the sensor has been in the aluminum head for 30 years and am wondering i if i remove it the threads in the head will get destroyed due to the bi-metal corrosion effect ?
i did get a new 'button head' sensor from jegs.
i do have temp gun and shows it;s running 185 -190 at the thermostat housing.

If you are not sure try a "Bit of Heat" using a Hot Air Gun along with some good penetrating oil like "KROIL Oil." If you heat it up and spray it with penetrating oil a couple of three cycles virtually anything will break loose. Heat and oil work the best together. By heating the part first and then spraying it with oil the oil will be drawn into the joint or threads.
I use a Torch for heat when I feel secure and comfortable that I won't damage anything. I always get a Fire Extinguisher and have it handy when heating with a torch. The one on my 1988 came out with out any problems. The sensor housing was Brass and not Copper. Copper is what is incompatible with Aluminum. Brass is not an issue with your aluminum heads.
