Default ZF transmission torque specs.

Hi, I am going to be replacing my clutch and flywheel soon. Just wondering what the torque specs on the bolts from the C-beam to the transmission, transmission to bellhousing, bellhousing to the engine, pressure plate to flywheel, and flywheel to crankshaft would be. I can't seem to get a definite answer anywhere. Car is a 1992. Thanks for any help!

I don't have a 92 FSM but that's where you will find it.

Contact Bill at ZR51 ZF Doc. He will email a step by step on installation and all torque spec”s. If you need a new pressure plate you definitely need to visit with him as he modified the pressure plate so you do not have premature failure, Due to the pressure plate not being machined correctly.

1989-1996 CORVETTE 6-SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION CLUTCH REPLACEMENT TORQUE VALUES

The following torque values are taken from the 1996 GM “Y” Platform Service Manual:
  • FLYWHEEL BOLTS: 74 FT-LBS
  • CLUTCH PRESSURE PLATE TO FLYWHEEL BOLTS: 30 FT-LBS
  • BALL PIVOT STUD: 33 FT-LBS. 12MM INTERNAL HEX
  • LOCKING SCREW FOR PIVOT STUD: 11 FT-LBS. 6MM INTERNAL HEX
  • FLYWHEEL HOUSING TO ENGINE BLOCK BOLTS: 37 FT-LBS
  • TRANSMISSION TO FLYWHEEL HOUSING BOLTS: 37 FT-LBS
  • DRIVELINE SUPPORT TO TRANSMISSION BOLTS: 37 FT-LBS. 18MM HEX
  • DRIVELINE SUPPORT TO DIFFERENTIAL CARRIER: 59 FT-LBS. 21MM HEX
  • GEARSHIFT SUPPORT BRACKET: 18 FT-LBS
  • PROPELLOR SHAFT RETAINING BOLTS: 18 FT-LBS
  • SLAVE CYLINDER NUTS: 18 FT-LBS

C Brace at the tranny is 60 pounds and at the diff is 37 pounds, according to the factory service manual.

Rear end has the larger bolts so it should have the higher torque value. The transmission bolts are smaller and should be less.

Just looked it up in my 1996 FSM Matthew is correct (not that I doubted him) differential bolts 59 lb ft and transmission 37 lb ft.

I stand corrected. My mistake, I had it backwards. Sorry about that. Although, the 91-93s call for 60 pounds at the diff. Interesting that the manual calls for 59 for the later models.
