Well I got a B&M Shifter and decided to install it tonight. Things started off well the console came off and the stock shifter seemed to be ready to come out. I got the car up on the lift to pop out the pin holding it to the gear shifter and...... To make a long story short it was the biggest PITA ever!! The idea is pretty strait forward but when it comes down to actually doing the job it is not at all easy.
Finally got the car back together minus the Exhuast (broke a bolt). THe B&M is really really really short and very notchy I drove around the block a few times and I really like it alot hoever the loud exhuast is making it not so fun I'm going to get it fixed tomarrow. I should be just what I want but it is going to take some getting use to. I'll have pics up soon
Oh yeah I also found a nail in one of the rear tires :cuss
Hey, could be worse. I actually managed to get mine installed without removing the exhaust being that all the bolts on the exhaust were siezed completely. Only took about 2 hours, a lot of bleeding and profanity but it was well worth it.
If I had to do it again though I would do it with the tranny out when I replaced the clutch.
In any case you'll love that B&M so much that you'll forget about the install troubles. Good choice
Best way to do it. ine will be done with the tranny out. Hurst as well
I replaced the factory shifter with the B&M with the tranny in the car and it was a pain. Now I have the tranny out of the car, so I replace the B&M with a Hurst. This was a lot easier to do now.
