'87 700R4 filter problem..
The old filter came out easily enough with a single o ring and I dont think there is any other seal up there, but could someone take a close look at these images and advise if the port is indeed, 'old seal free' please..
Surely it can't be that tight. I dont want to pound on it as the metal of the bottom of the filter looks a tad thin..
Cheers..

It should go in. Make sure to line it up straight and push and twist. Your old filter looks like it is for a 200-4R. I have seen some with a taper to the gasket. Do you have it on the right way?

Going to acquire some silicon grease and try again using a flat piece of wood to push on across the filter body..
Cheers..
The rubber itself is very soft but I believe there is a metal band inside the rubber section.
I tried to see if I could remove it but it was so soft, any attempt to prise it off would damage it.
Even if I could, there's no way to push it into the hole and then fit the filter as it would just collapse.
Its not like the old seals that were fairly rigid.
Ive ordered another brand of filter (ATP) to see if I have better success.
BTW, This AC Delco/GM branded filter came to me from Germany (I'm in the UK), so probably made in China or Turkey. The ATP filter is American made so I'm hoping for a better fit. 👍
Rockauto refunded me half the cost of the AC Delco/GM 'professional' item as it was too tight to fit.
The ATP item went fairly easily with a bit of pressure amd some atf to lube the seal!
Happy now! Woo! 🤗
