I am replacing the EGR valve on my 84 and it was delivered today. The new one is a bit different underneath as you can see in the pictures, the old one on the left has a threaded piece that will not go on the new one. The second picture shows that piece off in the green square. Does anyone think it will be ok to use the new one without that insert or have I been sent the wrong part? The old valve was covered in carbon so I don't think it was very useful.
I don't have an answer for you if it will or won't work but the price difference is huge between the two the one you're car calls for is around$150.00 the one you received is around$35 to $50
When I bout the part it said that was for an 84, but obviously it was different/ I put it on and the car seems no worse for it, although it was snowing last night and I didn't drive it. I've heard of people just blocking off the spot where the EGR is located but I didn't want to go that far.
