Default SES with fans? Bad sensor?

Installing dual row radiator today. Which was actually a lot easier than I expected. Changed the temperature sensor in the water pump at the same time. Used Delco 213-928 two wire sensor. Rock auto says this is the proper part.

Topped up the cooling system and started the car. It idled for 3-4 minutes the the fans suddenly kicked on and triggered an SES light.

A quick online search points to a possible DOA sensor? What do you guys think? I ran out of light so can't troubleshoot any further tonight. Tomorrow
I'm going to plug in the previous one and see what happens.

Thanks!

If the SES light came on, step 1 is to find out what the code is.

I plan to do that in the AM.
It's odd, this car hasn't thrown any codes since I got it. That sensor is the only thing that was changed other than the radiator.

Follow up. Buttoned everything back up this morning and started the car. No codes. Ran up and down the road several times, runs around 190-195 now. The radiator made a major improvement and the flush made the heat much toastier. 👍 So far it seems like everything is good.

It's an engineered cooling products. Slips right into the bottom supports but the upper rubber bumpers in the shroud do not fit at all. Took me a while to cut them into shape. Otherwise it seems to be a real nice piece. People on resto mod message boards seemed pleased with them.

I didn't change anything, left the new Delco sensor. I'm not sure what changed? I let it idle about 15 mins while checking for leaks and have driven about 50 miles.
I know things don't magically fix themselves. All I can think of is perhaps I didn't have the plug fully seated? I'm sure I did but you got me. Sometimes I think it's better to not fix things that aren't broken
