Default LT4 Hotcam and emissons

I'm considering getting the Hotcam along with intake and head work, but I am worried about passing emissions after the work is done. I am also thinking about getting some shorty headers. I don't want to get long tubes in fear that the missing cats will also cause me to fail emissions. Anybody have the same head+cam setup? and any issues with emissions?

With the right tune the hot cam should have no problem passing emissions testing.

Missing cats will certainly cause you to fail emissions headers or not. Here's the question though, do you have a visual inspection or just a sniffer test. If all you have to do is pass a tailpipe test you can use long tubes with some high flow bullet cats. It will cost more but will give you a substantial increase over the shorties. Honestly if you're not going with long tubes then don't bother with the shorties, they have no tuning effect and are only marginally better than the stock manifolds.

Is there any reason that long tubes with cats after them will fail a visual inspection? I've always thought that if the cats are on there, it's legal. Or, do they have to be in the original location??

In most states that care (like Texas) longtubes are illegal mainly because they necessitate the MOVING of the cats further "downstream" away from the exhaust ports (heat) which doesnt allow them to function as quickly upon startup or as well even after running a bit. :seeya
