Is it a bad Idea to replace the Corvette Lt1 with a F-Body Lt1. After replaceing the cam with a Hot Cam I took it out and spun a bearing :( Low on funds and found a 40,000 mile known good F-bbody Lt1 out of a 95 for 300 with exchange.
Other than the F-Bods having 2 bolt mains, there aren't really any other differences. Mine has 110k on the ticker and has never been taken apart, and the engine gets put through it's paces every time i drive it :D
Also the F-body's didn't have guide plates. Not that it matters, the Vette guide plates don't come anywhere near touching the pushrod so they are completely useless. If you don't mind the two bolt block, go for it.
Not always. You never know exactly what the weak link is until it fails. A friend of mine managed to break a crankshaft with a car that had some pocket ported heads, a crappy cam, and headers. The car probably didn't even make 330 hp. That had to be a factory flaw and I still don't understand exactly how it happened. Another friend broke the input shaft on his T-56 while his rear end survived perfectly.
These things shouldn't have happened but they did. Your crank MAY break first, but then again that main bolt COULD stretch too. Unfortunately we can't know what is the weak part until it breaks. Personally I'll go with overkill any day. 2 bolts are probably fine, but 4 bolts are better.
I just wish I had the money to build the motor I want.... I'd see exactly how much money could be spent on top quality components.

If you have not seen the motor in the car with a 40,000 mile cluster still it, don't believe it. If you have seen it and it is what they say, then buy it. It is a great deal. There isn't enough difference in the motors to worry about. Why not stick your cam in the Camaro motor while you have them out? :chevy
There's absolutely nothing wrong with the LT1 from an F-body. There may be a slight change in cam profile, but that varies with the Vettes too, depending on year. The accessories are also disimilar, but you'd probably use your old accessories anyway.
Aside from that, the 2 bolt main is a big deal to some, but a 2 bolt splayed to 4 is supposedly stronger than a standard 4-bolt.
A bone stock LT1 pushed my nearly 3800lb (driver not included) atuomatic '97 T/A to a 14.0 at 98.6mph, so I don't believe that they're down on power too much.
