Default Removing body kit 89

Found a clean 89 Z51 6 spd I like...but has the cheesy rocker piece and a spoiler that has to go if I bought it.

Are these usually held on by rivets or? How do they attach and do they show
Imagine the spoiler in the rear will have holes in the deck?

Anyways feedback appreciated.

There is a couple of threads on here involving just what you are talking about. General consensus seems to be learn to like it because filling and trying to blend the holes would be too much work/money..

Have a great body guy whos a vette expert...if I could negotiate it down some it may be worth it.
Car is nice enough, little over 50k may be worth it i dont know

Most these are roached out...dont like the Z51 at all its too stiff, cant get shocks, parts but the Z52 cars are stiff too. Looking for condition more than anything this ones had the right attention.
Ill call him later today see where this guy is at. Still working on a low mi 88 but its a pain gettting anyone to go to PA right now. (transport)

I must say that rowing through the MN6 in my '89 is a joy on every drive.

Good luck with your body man negotiations.

We will see Jim. Im gonna guess 1-2k...the 88 auto will run the same in transport, depends who is flexible
Both cars are very nice (keepers) would be happy to have either as a daily. Miss running errands in the 88 I just let go like you said every trip was fun.
Do love the black tag ZF though.

Bolts , at least on mine. Take off 2 k on the price if you can't do any of the repairs.

What typically is used to fix the holes? Sure I could do the majority of it myself.
Really dig the car has some nice improvements that arent visual, no need to regear if i built it up.
Could daily it for yrs and still not be a high mile car.

I don't know what body shops use specifically. I used marine JB weld on the rear urethane bumper to fix the holes. It worked perfectly. I had some fiberglass here from years ago i used on the lower bottom of the doors / rocker area etc. I ordered some lower rocker filler panels from Mirrock corvette that had the same color and matched perfectly. There were only a few holes on the front bumper that are not visible so I left those and the holes where the wing was I put some plugs in there for now until I decide what I want to do. I have a line underneath where we masked off , it looks like it is expelled but not visible. I did spend a considerable amount of time sanding to get the filled holes perfect. While the car looks pretty good I'm probably going to do a repaint at some point. I'll sand it myself and have my bud come over and shoot it here.
You have any pics of car. The previous owner of this car removed the body kit and left the holes which is why I only gave him $3, 250 it and it had other issues as well.
If you can't or won't do any of this work and the kit has to go take 2k off the price or live with the kit or holes leftover or eat the cost.

The factory rocker cover is beneath where the body kit bolts on. There were holes in the door ,front battery cover and in front of rear wheel area and rear bumper. Front also but only a few, at least on mine not visible and all easily accessible. The holes left are not as big of a deal as some make it but will be expensive if you have no body work skills. If you don't take 2k off the price of car. If the owner won't I would walk away unless you can live with the body kit or the cost.I personally hate them all so it would have to go if it were me.

You might be able to sell the body kit for 4 or $500 and recover some loss.

You have any pics of car?

Thanks Tommy...estimate so far was 1500-2500 depending which doesnt seem unrealistic.
Seller wont budget at all and dont quite have enough to make it happen. Damn..

Looks like final estimate is a solid 1500 to remove skirts, fix/paint inc spoiler.
Not sure if that spoiler would be ok to leave or not. Everyone thats seen it likes it..not sure about it myself

Trying to pick that one up and a low mi bright blue 88....

Still settling
Member has a perfect light blue 89 6 spd vert which combines the two, my dream C4 only 18k LOL
Maybe I can keep one of the two we will see. I wonder why im broke.
