Default HEI distributor tach/efi hook up

So I am interesting in converting my tpi to fi tech or some sorts of efi. Planning on going with a standard mechanical/vacuum advance distributor. My question is what do I all need to hook up to the tach wire on the new distributor that only has a 2 wire hook up.

I imagine I want my orginal tach hook up that goes to dash for rpm but what about the ppl/wht wire from the 4 wire harness.
I know there’s been discussion on this before but I am just wondering about if I want to hook up both to that tach output of the distributor, because guys have said you need that one hooked up for air/Cruze. I guess I would be hooking up a third wire there for the efi system if I go that route.

I also know guys have mentioned also hooking up the white (I think) from the 4 wire harness also up to batt side of the distributor.

I want all the original function of the dash ect. I (I know I will lose avg millage, instant, and range but am not too bothered by it)

does anyone have any clarification on this matter?
