Default 94 lt1 pass side 02 sensor

I rented the tool for the 02 sensor removal. Prior I had soaked the 02 with pb blaster several times for a week. When trying to remove the pass side the tool spread out and stripped off breaking the 02 sensor. That was with using a 1/2 drive and breaker bar. I feel kind of stuck now. I really dont see any way that this thing will come out now. Any ideas? I havent even attempted the DS yet for fear the same thing happens.

Thanks in advance..

Do you have a photo of what you're working with now? As someone who owns an O2 sensor wrench, I'm not sure how one could "spread out." They're a pretty solid chunk of metal.

If the metal part of the sensor is still sticking out, and you've already obliterated the sensor anyway, then it might be time to go medieval. Vice grips and tap with a mallet to get the sensor to budge.

After further review, the tool, (socket),did not spread out (or it spread out very little). It has an opening on the side for the wires. However the 02 sensor is completely stripped. Their is no room for vice grips or anything for that matter except for that offset socket. I would have to pull the exhaust pipe down or out to get anything on it.
Does anyone know what an exhaust shop would do in this instance. Maybe weld in another bung?

Sadly as I'm not in Florida I can't direct you. But any exhaust place should be able to help you out here, it wouldn't need to have Corvette experience.

One could even try welding a bar to what's left of the O2 sensor's metal ring, and then hit that bar with a mallet to get it to turn.

Sorry your O2 sensor had to give you such troubles. Hopefully there's an exhaust place nearby that can help you out.

It isn’t too much work to remove the cat section of pipe entirely. Then on your workbench you could hack saw off what is left of the o2 sensor leaving just the “nut” portion. From there, tap a close fitting socket on with a hammer, apply some heat and it will come out. Use an impact wrench if you have it. Welding a new bung in wouldn’t be necessary. Or try the above mentioned vice grips and tap those with a hammer. Either way, in your current predicament, removing that section off the car will gain you the access needed to remove the sensor.

If you are hesitant to pull the cat off, you can possibly try a box end wrench and heat the sensor up with a torch first, just be really cautious as the fuel lines and filter are very close by.

Now that it is broken, can you just put a box end wrench on it? Preferably a 6 point. slip something over the wrench for leverage.

I think by "broken" he means that he completely rounded it off. Vicegrips, welding a bar to it, anything else in that vein is gonna be the best answer if that's the case.

This. Remove that section of pipe, pour Kroil on the threads, use impact if not rounded too much. Be sure to use correct antiseize on new sensor and be sure to not touch the tip with that stuff, only a few threads. Otherwise, you may consider using the easy-out as mentioned above but be sure to use a good one (expensive) and don't apply any sideways force on it, only straight, inline with threads. If that doesn't do it, go buy another section of pipe. You might consider doing that anyway. Oh yeah, be sure to heat it up first before using the kroil. Clean the threads really well to remove all traces of Kroil after removing.

Can we get a picture of the tool, and what is left of the O2 socket?
