EGR- Correct GM Part number.
injectors. While it was apart, I thought I would replace the EGR valve just
because it is 12 years old. The original part number per old microfiche is
17112240. A call to my local dealer resulted in a different number. It is a
17113456. I asked if it was a direct replacement or one that comes with a
selection of orfices. They did not know. Does anybody know if it is a replacement
or if not the correct number. Thanks

The original number for an EGR for 90 - 91 was 17112240 as late as Sept. 1991. At that time the part number for 88s like mine was 17111665. I believe that GM replaced all of the older numbers for EGRs with the 17113456 part number. I replaced my EGR with a GM unit last summer and the dealer told me that the 17113456 unit was the new replacement part per GM.
The 17113456 EGR fit perfectly.
I would suggest that you get a GM Factory EGR. Based upon an experience I had had before with a "direct replacement" EGR from an autoparts store on my brothers 89 vette, I looked at every replacement EGR available from 6 different auto parts places and none fit as well or were constructed exactly the same in fit as the GM part. So I paid the extra for the GM unit.
