My replacement front suspension in my '91 coupe accident rebuild included an FHC spring, which is for a convertible and I understand will raise the ride height a bit. I'd like to switch the original FHA spring back in. The stock springs have so much arch I'm thinking it will be a pain without a spring compressor to get the the retaining bolts in place. Nobody really seems to mention this though, is this because they're installing much flatter springs? Is a floor jack under the control arm enough to get a high-arch stock spring installed?
When I removed the FHA from my '89 I was able to lift the car high enough using just my floor jack. Gave me barely enough room to get the spring out. The flatter FHB went in much easier.
Be careful, follow all the usual safety precautions - jack stands, wheel chocks, etc.- it should come out.
Thanks for your reply. My main concern is reassembly, which you eluded to by saying was easy since the FHB is much flatter. Getting the middle retaining bolts back in place and started with the high arch of the FHA spring with out a spring compressor seems challenging in my mind, given the angle that the spring mounts are at when the spring is free. Bottom spring in the pic. Maybe it's not a big deal and I'm overthinking it.

It's been a number of years since I performed the spring swap. Like you noted, I reinstalled the flatter spring. I have never reinstalled the original spring.
I also replaced the front spring on my '02 Z06 with a direct factory replacement.
Get one spring mount started then put a jack under the opposite side where the spring would rest on the control arm - jack just until the spring mount is in place and start the bolts? Work side-to-side with a lot of patience?
