I spoke with a guy a couple of days ago that mentioned a cam "burn in or run in" time on a new cam i.e. the cam makers request the cam to be ran for a certain rpm for a certain length of time.
Is this typical ? Makes sense but wondered how you can do this when you first crank up a new motor.
this is only done on flat tappet cams, you fire the engine and bring it to 2000rpms, hold it there for twenty minutes and then turn the engine off.
if you were really smart you could take a small piece of wood, metal or whatever else and make a TB wedge. as long as it sits between 2000 and 2500 your in business, get it somewhere in there and leave it for 20 min.
