Default 85 C4 New Exhaust System

I'm planning on redoing my exhaust system because of exhaust leaks and a rattling catalytic converter/bad mufflers. It's all stock and at this point they're begging to be put out of their misery. So my plan is that I'll replace it, but try not to spend too much (). So my question is: any recommendations for the exhaust system? I don't think the front y-pipes and rear y-pipes are very important (?) so I plan on just getting simple replacements for them. Here's my current plan for the exhaust system, let me know what you guys think of it:

MUFFLERS:
Amazon Amazon

CATALYTIC CONVERTER:
Amazon Amazon

FRONT Y-PIPE: https://www.partsgeek.com/catalog/19...st_y_pipe.html

REAR Y-PIPE: https://www.partsgeek.com/22rtfpz-ch...10090301008005

Let me know if I'd be making a big mistake by buying these I know that when it comes to exhaust, it's largely subjective and opinionated. I saw a video of a C4 Vette with the Borla exhaust and I thought it sounded pretty sweet.
Don't know if I can achieve that exact sound just by getting Borla mufflers because who knows what else they did to the car, but it doesn't hurt to try. Figure no matter what, it'll sound 1000% better than what I have now. I'm not looking to go extremely loud, just an improvement and to get rid of the terrible rattling noise.

I still am very new to car repair/restoration. It's been very fun and challenging so far. Rewarding too. I appreciate everyone whos helped me out so far. Maybe someday I won't be so inexperienced and I can handle tasks on my own but for now, still a newbie.

I'm not sure how (or where) you would mount a dual in / dual out muffler like that.

I think you'd want to go with (2) appropriate (single) center inlet Borlas in the stock locations for your '85. Keep in mind, that when you have the stock catalytic converter installed, you won't get as loud of an exhaust note as someone who has removed their converter. (sometimes those videos don't show or mention that). The newer high flow cats, will make the car louder than the stock converter.

Also be aware that many aftermarket converters (or the air pipe) needs to be modified just a bit so you can hook up your air tube to it. Not a bad job though.

You could actually totally remove your mufflers and the car will not be that loud. Right now, while trying to decide on which mufflers I want to go with on my current '87, I currently have both mufflers removed and it sounds pretty good as is with the muffler delete (and the stock converter). My other C4 has a aftermarket converter and muffler delete and it's a little louder, but not bad at all. For comparison, my Grand Cherokee 4.7 V8 has a single Flowmaster 50 on it and it's louder than both of the C4's.

( I still like the Flowmaster 40's, and I've got a set of older Borlas here as well and they sound good also, but possibly looking for something different so I'm driving the car with the mufflers removed currently (and I like it). You may want to remove them first and see how that sounds to give you an idea of what the stock converter sounds like. (You'll most likely find that your existing mufflers are "broken down" and full of rusted baffles etc. (Especially if they are stock like mine were). Mine were full of rust and metal.

As a side note. I'm in PA and have Antique tags, no inspection or emissions required.

Great information! I'll give removing the mufflers a try and see how the converter sounds. I imagine the rattles will still be there. I'm sure my mufflers also have a ton of rust and metal as well. And yes, in retrospect I definitely don't know how I would have fit those mufflers either This is why I make these forum posts... I'll try to find Borla's with a single center inlet. Thanks a ton.

No Problem ! The rattling sound, could possibly just be your heat shield on the converter. Sometimes a tack weld may take care of that. Hey, see how it sounds without the mufflers and maybe you can get by with the converter replacement and save a few $$ to save for those Borlas. If I run across my paperwork I can get the actual part number but I believe it's these: (I think there may be cheaper ones as well)
