6k cluster into 8k

I recently built the motor in my 94 zf6 to spin to 7k but obviously need a cluster swap. Finding a 8k cluster isn't working out so I had another idea. If I changed the 6k calibration IC to an 8k one and swapped the tach face would it not be the same? Planning on calling Batee tomorrow to ask but it seems like it would be effectively be making it sweep as an 8k. Anyone done/thought about this swap?

I don't see why it wouldn't. The coil output's the same either way, so it's just a matter of how the IC drives the stepper motor. I think you're right on the money.

Do you have a source for the 8k dial face? I haven't found any, I was thinking to do the same swap, my new engine revs well past 6k.
