Default D44 gears help please!

Did a lot of searching and couldn’t find definitive answers in the archives, nor could I find any more-current discussions on the subject of rear gears. I need to know which gear sets, if any, I can buy for a 96 with Dana 44 (factory 3.45:1 gears) that will bolt in without any modifications to the case, use of a ring gear spacer, etc. Looking to go to somewhere between 3.90 and 4.11. Just wondering what will work for sure. Thanks for any help!

Either ratio you mention should be available in the 216mm ring gear using 3/8-24 bolts. 216mm ring gear, 3/8-24 bolts and be sure 29 spline pinion. 226mm ring gear requires very little modification.

No spacers --- all ratios will have correct ring gear/pinion relationship.

Would it need to be the “thick” version? Because what I’m seeing is plenty of availability of standard and thick gear sets for 26 spline pinion, 8.5”/216mm ring gear sets, and plenty of availability of 29 spline pinion, 8.89”/226mm ring gear sets, but only standard thickness for 29 spline pinion and 8.5”/216mm ring gear. And so far I’ve only found ONE source for that!

All 29 spline are correct - no 26 spline is correct - there's no 'thick/thin' 29 spline. You're making this way more difficult than it needs to be!!

Haha I do have a tendency to “overthink” things. I’ve attached a screen shot of the ONLY 29 spline/8.5” ring gear set I’ve been able to find. Surely there are others that offer this?!?!?

D44 differentials come in lots of versions and lots of different vehicles. All D44 diffs are not the same.

Yes, early Viper gears with 3/8 bolts. I have this p/n installed in mine.
