Clutch Diaphragm conversion
Hi guys I want to use keep my new DMF only 500 miles when the crappy China throw out bearing exploded and since I can not find one of the OEM ones I will have to do the conversion to the hydraulic bearing, So my question is with the dual mass flywheel and the poem clutch disc(no springs) and then buy a regular type clutch diaphragm and the hydraulic bearing conversion kit.. has anyone done this and if so can you tell me the part numbers for what I will need and any tips on the install on my 1990 L98

Boy, that would be a stretch. The chances of finding a conventional clutch diaphragm assembly and pressure plate that match the OEM disc tolerances AND use a compatible hydraulic throw out bearing conversion kit seem like a bridge too far. But I'm willing to see if anyone has done that, because if so I'll need to do the same eventually...so I'm subscribed to this thread....

AFAIK, there is no push-type conversion that works with the stock flywheel and disk sizes. The pressure plates they normally use are a standard size that have a different bolt pattern for the flywheel. If you find one that works with a stock ZF6 flywheel, please post it here so people will know about it. Otherwise, I would just get a complete push-type conversion with a heavier solid flywheel and isntall the shim kit on the ZF6 to reduce the rattling. It probably won't be too obnoxious if you do all that.
