The idea was to get past the column lock (no C5 CL envy :P ) and not have to reach around the wheel for an "invisible" key slot. Not a "I must do this" more of a "hmmm, that could be cool" thing.
IMO Converting to a keyless transponder where you only have a push button start on the dash ; isn't going to be a simple plug and play process. Going to dash key switch, the only obstacle is deciding where to mount cylinder. Several later models used dash cylinders. Bypassing lock in column is simple just remove locking pin and retainer.

Not looking for Keyless or anything like that - the less computerized/electronics the better.
