Changing the front pads on my 89 and the set of pads I got the pin will no got thru. The pin is 5/16 diameter and the hole in the pads are 9/32. I've tried 2 different sets of pads and both had the smaller holes.Am I getting the wrong pads?

The pin does not go through a hole in the pad. The pin locks the caliper/pad assembly in place by engaging a tang on the pads and groove in the caliper bracket.

That's why I asked brand & part # - If the pad # is correct it seems very obvious it's a 'self-inflicted' misunderstanding. The part # OP mentioned of course doesn't dirrectly interchange so it makes comparisons more difficult!
*** There's many videos that the OP could use for proper assembly.
Third photo in the listing appears to show correct looking pads. The tang on the pads is at the upper right of the pads on the upper row in the photo and upper left of the lower row.
