My rad fan comes on much earlier than it should and then runs pretty much all the time. I think I've read here that you can adjust the temp it comes on at with a tune? I'm thinking Ill go through fans if it runs all the time. It is a 90 and I don't have any knowledge of its history.
There is a little plastic box under the hood that says Gorilla chip on it. It's unlikely that it has anything to do with the fan. There is only one wire coming out of it and I can't see where it goes but it heads in the direction of the distributer. I'd like to get rid of it but don't want to screw something up.

Fans are controlled by settings within the ECM/Chip.
I am changing mine as I type..
I use CATS Tuner to set it, then Moates flash n burn chip burner. I use 512KB reburnable chips and a chip holder that sits in between the OEM chip and burnable chip.
94 and newer you flash the whole ECM without adding anything.
Wow, that's way outta my league and I'll bet if I asked my mechanic about it he'd look at me like I got two heads.
Lol. Its not difficult. Someone had it done and was charged 125 bucks. Chips and sockets are fairly cheap. Burner isnt too bad, software is about 50 bucks for tuner, I believe..
But, Moates and CATS tuner have awesome customer service..
The problem is when you open CATS tuner, its like pandoras box. You can change so much stuff.... Dangerous..
