When you installed a new/rebuilt transmission, what method did you use to flush the cooler lines.
I don't have a compressor so I was going to do it like this:
1) Disconnect lines from radiator (already disconnected from trans)
2) Use brake cleaner or carb cleaner and spray it through the lines then flush with water.
3) Use brake cleaner or carb cleaner and spray into radiator then flush with water.
Does this sound like a proper method or is there a better way? :smash:
Re: How do you flush transmission lines? (VetBoy89)
I got a can of aerosol transmission line cleaner from the trans shop that rebuilt my conv trans. It has a hose with a female threaded connecter that your trans line connects to. Spray 1/2 can of cleaner through one line and then switch lines and spray the rest through. Then blow it clean with the compressed air. These are the directions on the can as best as I can remember them.
Don't use brake cleaner. Whatever seals it comes in contact with could deteriorate them some. You don't ever want brake cleaner on anything besides metal.
