So, there I am running DataMaster against my '95, collecting and logging data in an effort to troubleshoot this idle problem and the link between the ECM and the Datamaster software goes down. It reinitializes itself, continues to collet data and then does it again.
I lost the connection 44 times, each time between 7 and 12 seconds (with the interval getting longer the longer the engine has been running,) before the engine stalls out.
Freescan showed the same phenomenon.
I'm guessing ECM is bad as all the sensor data looks consistent with the way the engine is running and no DTC's are being thrown.
I would make sure the computer is not having some issue with serial communications. See if you have the same problems with another computer. As a programmer, I have seen lots of serial ports do strange things.
Well, I would love the opportunity to help you, but unfortunately my 'Vette is in many pieces right now since I am in the middle of a cam swap.. However, I just so happen to have my ECM sitting next to me in my computer room (trying to track down the comm protocol to write my own scanning software for fun), so if you wanted to meet up, you are more than welcome to swap in my ECM to test... I also have a laptop, so we can see if it is a computer issue as well.
