Hey fellas My 94 LT1 is in need of some tires badly, back tires are almost bald.. I went to acouple places to get quotes and they are telling me around 1,100- 1,300  ... I'm like damn I don't have that kind of money right now during the hoilday months.. My Tire sizes are, Rear- 315/35/17.... Front- 275/40/17.. Do you guys know where I can get a decent quote on some nice dawgs??.. Thanks..
try tire rack .You should be able to get a set of Sumitomo for a little over 500.These come in both sizes 315/35/17 and 275/40/17.I replaced Dunlop SP8000 with the Sumitomo tires and i liked the Sumitomos better. Now i have Goodyear Gsc's on and feel that the Sumis where a better tire.Hope this helps
I took the advice of a number of forum members, and went with the Kumho Ecsta 712s. They were around $500 installed at Discount Tire with lifetime balance and rotation, and I have no complaints at all. The performance of this tire has definitely exceeded my expectations, and are so much better that the Goodyears it's amazing. For the money- I'd get another set for sure, but if you want to shop around the brands recommended to me (that I remember)were: Michellin Pilots, Sumitomos, Kumho 712, and dunlop sp5000s. I also put 275/40/17s all around as suggested by the forum, and they fit fine. Those who had the wider rear wheels that responded to one of my posts said they only used the wider rears for the strip, and for that they used the Kumho drag radial (555?). Others who used the wider rears all the time had more probs locating tires for the rear without spending big $, which is why so many people picked up some standard rear sawblades for daily driving, and used the wider rears for weekends at the strip.-J
the KD has also been countered by kuhmo, it's called the MX and is very close to the same tire at half the price. they are available in a 275 40 17 from tire rack. these things have created nothing but killer reviews from everyone i've talked to who's ran them. the kuhmo 712 was last years killer bargin tire and still is a great deal at $110 a piece or whatever current tirerack retail is. however yokohama released the es100 which i've tried against the 712 and they definatly win. wet traction is similar as they both are outstanding rain tires but the es100 does grip a good deal harder in the dry and offer better handling feedback. it also is in the same price catagory as the 712
if your doing a 315 on the rear your choices are limited and also more expensive. yokohama sports and michelin sports are probably your two best choices. the kd is unavailable and the zeros wear out in no time.
