Hi everyone! I've made a post prior to this about how I took my 91 in to get a new A/C and got it returned not running. I was told the battery drained overnight and then when it was recharged and the alternator was unplugged it didn't drain; I thought this was weird because there were no prior issues and the alternator was fairly new. I decided to check it out myself so I checked and the alternator and it was not the problem, there wasn't even a battery drain. My next issue is that my security light on the dash does not blink or stay solid it just doesn't come on at all, my check engine light stays solid on the dash and when I turn the key all the way to ignition nothing happens at all. I've read many forums on this but I can't seem to find a fix to it many times people say the check engine light is supposed to blink which it does not do. I would think this is a VATS issue but I've read everywhere that the security light stays solid but mine just doesn't do anything even when the doors are open. All interior lights work and hood lights work I'm assuming that the guy left it open and that was the drain but I am open to any suggestions, Thanks!

Who told you the battery drained overnight? How did they ascertain this? Regardless, if the battery is good, it should crank up unless something is wrong. So, there are 2 wires going to the alternator. The power and the exciter wire. Try to crank it and see if the starter moves. If it doesn't, does the exciter wire jump to 12V and 0 when you release the key?

Check engine light does not blink in '91. Not sure where you got that from.
