Default 1987 E-Brake not functioning

I recently bought my 1987 Corvette and I noticed when I pull the e-brake, it clicks while being lifted, and I can hear something engaging in the back in the brakes, but the actual brakes are not engaging. In neutral, the car can still roll with the brake fully engaged.
Has anyone run in to this or does anyone have any advice?

In '87 the parking brake consists of drum brakes inside the rotors. I'd pull the rotors and take a look at the shoes. They may just need adjusting or one of the cables may have come off.

I agree with jv9999 and will add you may find some of the components have rusted and become locked up over time. I replaced my 87's parking brake components with stainless steel parts. Zip Corvette item PB-286 is what I used. When adjusting the shoes don't forget the star wheel direction for loosen/tighten is opposite on each side of the vehicle.

I just replaced the rear cables on my 84. If you find that the cables are seized up Rock Auto has AC Delco's for a very good price. I think I got both rear cables for under $30 plus shipping.

My 85 sat for a while, the parking brake components locked up in the semi actuated position and the cable slipped off the hook. Definelty pull the rear rotors and take a look, it could be as simple as just needing to adjust or clean stuff up and break it free.

Jack up car and look to see if cable has stretched. There is an adjust.
