Any easy way to repair/replace/disconnect parking brake light? 1985 manual shift' I never use the E-brake but one day it just came on. If I could just disconnect it or cut a wire I would be happy. Don' really want to remove the seat.
This is the C5 section however make sure the handle is all the way down. Sometimes people snag the lever and it raises a click and the light can come on.
Also make sure it's not the master cylinder balance switch that's turning it on. You can just unplug it to test.
Thanks for the tip. That's exactly what it is. Where do I go from here? Does the Master Cyl have to be replaced? Could it just be the switch?
Thanks Again

It could be the switch, but it's pretty rare. How do the brakes feel? Are both front and rear reservoirs reasonable full? The switch turns on when there is a pressure imbalance between the front and rear brake circuits. Most commonly caused by a leak.
Fluids in both reservoirs are right to the top. no signs of any leaks on the pavement or around the wheels. Brakes feel the same as always. Fluid is dirty brownish. I could flush the system and add new fluid. Could I remove the switch, clean it and inspect it without having to bleed the system?
If your parking brake is like mine, there's a simple microswitch on it with a small lever on it. Pull the cover and look it over. Can't swear to it but I think the circuit is completed and the light goes on when the switch is closed..
