Default '95 brake upgrade possible?

Hi gang,
I've got a 95 base model with 40,000 miles, and am thinking of upgrading the brakes. My brother has a 2009 with the Z-51 package. He just took those brakes off his car and replaced them with a higher performance set. He has offered me his original set for free ( they have 10,000 miles on them) . Problem is I have no idea if they will fit my car. Anybody out there that has this knowledge? Thanks very much in advance! Paul

They should fit. The '09 Z51 caliper is, I believe, dimensionally the same as the C5 caliper (thought it's a bit beefier). You'll need adapter brackets to get from the C4 knuckle to the C6 caliper brackets.

C6 Z51 will not fit under a sawblade. A spoke A-mold wheel will clear. Even the non base C6 or C5 setup will not clear a sawblade, it will require a spacer.

Were they still using saw blades in '95? I couldn't remember....

I guess they were. Chump is right. The sawblades won't fit. You'll need a newer wheel.

Indeed they were. Correct nothing larger will fit under the sawblades.

You can use the C5 / C6 base calipers, rotors and caliper brackets with adapter kit. Not a difficult upgrade

I haven't upgraded my C4 yet, but i have installed front & rear on my '37 Chevy Coupe build. I installed new C6 new calipers, they are a little thicker in a few areas,,, $250 a pair. Wilwood Dimpled & Slotted Rotors $100 each.

I'm also using C5 thin spoke wheels (now powder coated black), 17 front 18 rear, Wheel Clearance is tight !! I haven't had time to check to see if my C4 ZR1 wheels will clear the calipers.

Front wheels definitely need to be 17 inch. if you upgrade the rears you will need to complete some clearance on the rear calipers.

Let me know if you would like additional photos,

Michael..
