Default mass air flow

I have an 1985 C4 and it started rough idle and smells very rich when you give it gas it bogs down. would this be a mass air flow sensor?

How old is the O2 sensor? Can you try disconnecting the MAF and see if the O2 sensor sees that?

Is the check engine light coming on? You can pull error codes on an 85 with a paper clip.

Did you try to do it with the MAF disconnected?

If it is a MAF issue, it may do better disconnected since it forces the system to go off the tables thwt are preprogrammed.

Go ahead to Autozone and borrow their fuel pressure gauge. You might need it unless you have one yourself

85 has a "burn off module" located on passenger side behind "bread box" on dash. After 85, they went to a simple relay located on firewall. As I understand it, if your module is bad (and I am not sure how you isolate a bad module).. .you'll be going to ebay, etc. looking for a decent used part.

It doesn't have one. The '85 uses a MAF, which is located between the air filter and the bellows that connects to the throttle body.

NOWHERE unless you put one there. You are MAF and not speed density.

Bad modules wont power the sensor or won't trigger burnoff after shutdown, easy to test with a multimeter, after shutoff you should hear couple of faint clicks from behind the breadbox.

OK I have an error code 43 I replaced the knock sensor and it still is running poorly and still have 43 code. If the Coolant Temp sensor was bad would that give me a code 43???
with everything else that has been replaced and tested I think if the Coolant Temp sensor doesn't correct the problem it would be the ecm??

Code 43 will pull alot of timing off idle and will make the engine feel sluggish. You might want to run through this logic tree before changing more parts.
