Default Alternator Wiring Question

Can I connect both red wires together that come off the alternator and do i need to connect the brown wire to the ignition switch in order for it to charge. i am installing the 1993 engine in my 1954 Chevrolet Belair

If the alternator came with the engine it should be a CS144 P-L-I-S (Phase, Light, Ignition, Sense) as @IHBD mentioned. Not knowing anything else about the '54 I believe it's unlikely to just 'toss' a solution at you. As mentioned there should be many wiring alternatives available from various sources that could likely better direct you to a solution. Maybe @belairbrian will stop by. He's an early Bel Air owner that I believe has modified much!
