Default Hard Shifting
I have a new-to-me '85 C4 with a 4 speed automatic. When going from park to drive it really lurches and the RPMs go from ~700 (warms for 2-3 minutes) to 500. It seems to take this one a long time to warm up and for the RPMs to drop. Also, when manually dropping from D to 2 during mild deceleration if kicks in hard. Is any of this normal for that trans?

My 86 shifts hard especially at WOT but the transmission has been rebuilt and upgraded for performance

Did the previous owner mention a shift kit, higher stall torque converter, having the transmission rebuilt, etc?

He didn’t mention anything regarding the trans but I will ask him.
