Comp 983 or 986 springs?

Comp 983 or 986 springs?
Does anyone know how much lift the comp 983 oval springs can handle on a stock 1994 LT1 head. I need springs that can handle up to .560 (.557 to be exact) lift if I decide to go with the Hot Cam and 1.7 rockers later. I see it is more expensive to go with the 986 springs if I decide to go Ti retainers. I would prefer the 983 springs for easey installation. Also, will the retainers on either spring setup hit the seals at .560 lift? Will I have to cut the spring seats deeper for the 986 setup? Any help will save me some time measuring and give me a chance to drive my Baby while I order the parts.

use the 986, they are perfect for that lift and the seats aren't that hard to cut. i have a set on some 113 castings. just use a ID cup on the inner spring and some good valve seals.

i used the steel retainers and 10deg locks, pioneer seals and have not had a single problem. just used ID cups on the inner spring to keep the spring from jumping around

Ok thanks for your help, I was originally going to go with the 986's but the 983's are cheaper for the whole kit. The sad thing is that the 983's don't have Ti retainers for them anyway. Once I get the 986's installed I guess that will be the fix it and forget it attitude I always go for. Thanks again.... :thumbs:
