I have an 84 with cross fire on it now with a 150 shot plate system. I am going to be switching to tuned port in the spring. I want to put direct port on it and need to drill the intake for the fogger nozzles. I don't want to use the under injector direct port sysyem because I already have a set of the regular nozzles. I was just wondering has anyone ever done this and how hard is it to drill the intake? Any tricks I should know before hand? I know to use a drill press instead of a hand drill and all that. I know those nozzles use NPT thread on them. I have worked a lot with that kind of thread but never in aluminum. Any cracking or binding problems wile threading it? Thanks for any help. Oh if any one has a picture of a direct port on a tpi I would like to see it
Re: Anyone running direct port nitrous? (Phobos84)
I install nitrous oxide injection systems on a regular basis......and I sugest..that you do NOT just tap into the runners alone.....the metal is very thin...and will cause problems....the correct way to plumb a nossle into the runner is to weld "bosses" into the runner and tap into these (which are thicker) and will be up to the stress

What "runners" do you mean. I'm not going to drill into the side tube like tpi runners. I am however going to drill into the runners in the intake manifold. Either way that is a good idea to put the bosses in. I have installed a lot of nitrous too. Hopefully I will have a job doing it next month. I still have never done one quite this complex.
wHAT ARE BOSSES  Are those like a nut that welds on the the drilled hole, I mean on the outside of it and then the Fogger nozzel just threads into the nut(Bosses) that is welded around the hole? This just gives more room for the fogger nozzel to seal up with the intake or what? ;)
Thanks Phobos84, but could you tell me what the heck is a window switch? I hear it being used a lot, where do you get this from and how much does it cost. Thanks
WHen you use 8 fogger nozzels one for each port, If you run with this system it requires extra fuel as well, right? SO this is a wet system. Another thing is If say for example you engine makes 500hp and has forged rotating assembly, and you run a 250shot wet nitrous system, How big of a fuel pump do you need just for N20?
Also If you use a 250shot with a 10lb bottle, how long does that bottle last for? How much does it cost to get it filled up? And where do you get it filled up at?
A window switch is a box that you put little pugs in. The plugs have rpm numbers on them. What it does is alows a device to get ground only between the two rpms. For example. If you use one with a nitrous setup you could set the low rpm plug at 3000 rpm then set the high one at 6000 rpm. This makes it so you can't over rev the engine with nitrous. You can use it for more then just nitrous to. If you are interested in seeing one go to http://www.summitracing.com and type "window switch" in the search. as far as the direct port fuel pump thing I'm not sure. I have never and probably never will run that much nitrous. A high flow fuel pump is always a good idea for nitrous
