Hey, I have a 89 MAF OBDI system. I am wondering if i can get a VPC to eliminate the MAF, so i can run the MAP sensor set up. I know on imports it's a big business. It's a box that converts the MAP reading into a MAF signal for the ECM. Therefore you have a Map system..... Anyone done it on the C4 vette??? Also, any idea how to upgrade the HEI to a the LS1 coil system?
B/C my Supra i'm building has a standalone computer and i have 6 LS1 coils for the igntion set up, and originally it came with a Distributor. I'd like to do a conversion on the HEI's. I also know where to get the connectors for the LS1 Denso coils pretty cheap. DON"T GO TO THE DEALER FOR THEM!!

Your talking about DFI, Haltech, etc. Those systems have been around for a long time, but they eliminate the MAF sensor and only use a map sensor. I think the Haltech has it's own ignition, and has 8 coils of it's own, but I'm not sure.
that's a "WHOLE" ECM set up that eliminates your factory one like i did to my Turbo Supra. I was just looking for the VPC, Vein Pressure Converter. That means your "factory" ecm see's the same voltage etc, but its coming from a MAP sensor, goes into this box, and then to your ECM. It's more of a piggy back system, and it only effects the MAF. Bc i really don't wana mess with a standalone system right now on the vette. Supra was enuff. cya!:)

You are probably also referring to the S-AFC from APEXi, Its a very cool tool when working, but is designed for imports. I was thinking of getting one, but I got absolutely ZERO assistance on even answering my questions I sent to APEXi about doing a conversion for our MAF, so I decided against hacking up my ECM harness blindly.. They come with good wireing diagrams, and theoritically 'should' work with both our MAF and MAP systems.
I love seeing it work on my friends' Supra. Yo ucan program timing, fuel curves, everything from a piggyback unit like this. (SIGH) :nopity
the AFC is what your referring to. YES VERY COOL. BUT, the VPC is different, but similar. The afc wouldn't remove our MAF to a MAP. THE AFC alters what exists. the VPC is a different, more expensive unit. It's job is 1 thing, "REMOVE MAF, use MAP," and that's it. you can tune it for different fuel/air stuff though. but theres 2 things used on imports, AFC, VPC's, and standalones. I was wondering if i could get either the AFC/VPC but i guess not. DAM IT i might bitch up a storm to APEXi, B/c i want one. if i get anywhere i'll tell ya. Peace man!

Keep us or me posted how you end up.
APEXi outright ignored my emails and calls so I gave up..
I would love to get rid of the MAF, but converting to SD is not something I want to do, as I rather not cut up everything etc, etc.
Also if I wanna spend $300-500 on the conversion, I rather
buy a Gen6 ACCEL DFI. You can buy those for that much nowadays..
