Electrical question

Anyway, the clip which secures the connector to the switch snapped off. So now it's kind of just sitting on the end of it.
The oil pressure switch threads into the oil pressure gauge fitting in a way that renders the switch sitting vertical rather than horizontal. The oil pressure sensor being the one that ends up horizontal after it threads into the same fitting.
So, since the oil pressure switch sits vertical and the connector sits on top of it, it seems like vibration would be the only thing that might cause the connector to fall off. As I said, the conector isn't really tight. It jiggles pretty loosely. But it's sitting on top of the switch. So gravity is kind of on my side here. Seems like it sould be okay until I get around to feeling like swapping out the pigtail.
I need to find that pigtail in the mean time.
My question is, if the connector does come off of the switch, nothing will happen, right? It's just a backup to the fuel pump relay? It doesn't do anything else but that?
I was thinking about trying to fish a long zip tie arount the end of the connector and the fitting just to keep the connection secure for the time being, but there's just no room.
Thanks!

I believe you are correct, the oil pump pressure sensor is a backup for the FP relay. There was an article I read years ago that said that the sensor was checked during the start cycle for pressure, but that article was wrong as other forum members pointed out to me. And I think you're right, gravity and the natural bent-wire pressure that the pigtail normally has will keep that connector seated until you can fix it.

Just those oddball conectors that I need to replace. They'l all start snapping off after thirty years, no doubt.
Here, I'll trade you a good bulb link for the connector link. Ha.
I found this link when I was looking for natural amber (NA) bulbs versus the painted amber ones the chain stores pawn off...

That is a great resource you have both mentioned above! I was impressed to find out they have stores like this.
Eastwood company sells kits to make your own weather-tight connections. I have one kit that has from 1 wire up to 10 wires and has both ends available to build your connector. It is great when you are building something but has been helpful when I have a broken connector. I have the US standard and the European standard weather-tight connectors to make as you need them.
Now that I know about the EFIConnection.com I will use them for sure. Thanks for enlightening us! Thank you Natty C as II forgot to say thanks about the BulbTown site as well!
I love this Forum, you learn something new every time you visit!
