Getting ready to replace water pump on my 96 LT1. It has 29K miles and started leaking (rusting through) on the underside. Bought replacement unit from dealer and have a couple questions.
1. What type of RTV sealant should I use?
2. Should I use the sealant on both sides of the gaskets, or just one? Which side if one?
3. Should I use an anti-seize compound on the bolts to the block?
Any other comments/suggestions from anyone else that's done this would be appreciated.
1. I just use sensor safe black RTV.
2. I put it on both, see other thread.
3. No, you want to use teflon paste as two of them go into a cooling jacket. :)
Just my own thoughts.....get the FlowKooler water pump...works for years and gives alot more cooling than stock.....but these are my feelings only...since I do use one... http://www.flowkooler.com at least check it out....to each his own!!!!!!!!
again just my humble thoughts...

I have replaced mine and taken it off about 4 times for access. I use High temp RTV on both sides of the gaskets and on the bolt threads and have not had any leaks or problems removing the bolts. Hope this helps.
