Throttle Position Sensor Screws for a 89' Corvette?
Throttle Position Sensor Screws for an 89' Corvette?
So, I have been searching all over the place for these screws, I bought some on eBay and of course, they didn't fit but was able to get the weird washers that go on the screws which I didn't have does anyone know the size, pitch, etc. and where to buy them? I found these but they are $9. plus $10 shipping and since they are shipping them USPS they are truly making $9 more dollars on the shipping. Any suggestions would really help, Thanks
If you wonder down to a "pick and pull" type salvage yard odds are you can get a bunch of them for a dollar. Probably a 4mm 20 torx 8mm long. GM tech might have a few in his junk drawer. I
GM techs work at GM dealerships. It's hard to believe the nearest towing company is 2 hours away. In every town someone is selling parts of broken cars sitting in their yard.
This isn't a corvette only part. Most parts are generic found on multiple years and bodies types. Take the part you need a match it up at the place with a pile of GM wrecks.
I think I have 2 from my car in a tool box I can mail you if they're the same as the CFI cars. I'll just stick them in an envelope. They're doing me no good.
be sure to tape them to a piece of card board or the sorting machine will rip them out of the envelope. no fun expecting a smallish screw and receiving an envelope with a big hole in it.

I have those doubled heavy ones and was planning on wrapping them too. Just need to find them when I have a minute later.
If these are thought to be correct one of you need to ID it @84 4+3 before you ship and/or the OP confirms after he receives. Metric specifications diameter - pitch - length. I have thoughts but left it along because I 'CAN NOT' confirm without them in hand. I was amazed that the info wasn't around but it is what it is...

I measured the pitch at .75. It's kind of wonky measuring diameter but I get it at 4.2mm so I would presume M4... so its a m4-.75 x 30mm for what I have.
Edit: looking through the McMaster carr book it would appear to be M4.5-.75 what an odd size unless GM had an oddball one custom made.

I suspected the M4.5-.75 and the length seems typical for that spec on other GM forums for similar. I believe if the OP confirms fft after arrival you edit your post entirely and just post what it actually is! It isn't actually that ODD!

I've just never really seen an M4.5 in the wild is all... or I guess just paid that much attention anyway. Will update once fitment is confirmed. Thank you for supporting my findings.
There is a shop called Contemporary Corvette down in Bristol PA and they have a Junkyard for Corvettes as they break them down and sell the parts. They do have a lot of stuff there!
Contemporary Corvette is only 1 hour and 18 minutes from you in Allentown. They show up at Carlisle for Corvettes @Carlisle and sell their wares, or at least they used to.
It is a good source of used parts if you need them.
