I read about repairing front and rear flexible bumpers in a muscle car book I had. I can understand flex additives for the painting but can they be successfully repaired (very small cracks/gashes)? Any recommended products? And, my front bumper is pretty wavy--anyone corrected this with a reliable procedure?
You are pretty much stuck with the wave look. As far as the tears and what not they make several different things to fix them that can be bought at most body shop supply stores, but I wouldn't recommend it. I have tried and the crack came back through in about a year, keep in mind though I am not a professional.
If you look used bumper covers are readily available for not to much money. I just bought both front and back for $180 total, although most of that savings is due to PaintDaddy here on the forum. I think that Vette-to-Vette salvage has them for $150 a piece and you can find auctions on Ebay for cheaper than that. Just be careful of shipping because PaintDaddy and I ran into that problem.
You are probably right--guess I will just plan on finding a deal at some point in the future. I could make my rear bumper look good but the front one has seen better days. Thanks for replying.
