Tach going crazy

tachometer seems to have a life of its own, up and down very fast. any thoughts to fix

Well, just a guess, but since there are only three things that could affect this; power, ground and tach input. I'm going to guess it's a bad ground. Just a dice throw mind you. I've also heard that our cars have a tach filter. Never have found it, but it also controls tach input. Sorry to be so vague, maybe someone else can give more detail on the items I've listed. ;)

If I remember right 1991 was the worse year for corvette tachometers. It is a known issue, but of course I cannot remember what fix if any there was. :(
