Pivot-to-control arm bushing (lower shock bushing)
My 87 C4 driver side pivot-to-control arm bushing (at least that’s what I believe it’s called) is shot. I hear a clunky metal on metal sound when I hit some bumps and after inspection, I can definitely tell they need to be replaced.
My question is has anyone ever replaced those bushing at the bottom of the shocks that help mount them to the control arm? I can’t find an answer on the internet or the repair manual. Do I need to order a new shock or can I buy a new set and press them onto the shock.
I attached a photo. Let my know if it’s not there.
Thank you!

may also be on ebay.
just measure yours, order new ones.
some are straight, and some neck down in the middle.
before you waste your time with new bushings, take your shocks off and test them.
1. they should have gas in them, once pushed down, they should extend on their own.
2. they need to be the same resistance going compressed.
take a bathroom scale and duct tape the top shock bushing on the bottom of the scale.
then put the shock post in the bushing on the scale, and see how many lbs it takes to push down.
Do it to both.
mine are at 38 lbs.

Hope this thread answers someone else’s question in the future
