Default What is this plug?

I was poking around under the car, 1989 L98 auto, and saw this plug in the block near the oil filter. There are no wires unplugged in the area. What is it for? Thanks.

Is it perhaps a Canadian Car?

Yes, it shows I have the K05 option. But I couldn't see the block heater cord anywhere. I'll take a deeper look. Thanks for the info!

That IS the block heater. The power cord's 3 wires plug into that 3 pin connector that you're seeing, then run out to where ever you want it to access it, to plug it into the wall outlet. You need the cord (If you want it to work).

I have absolutely no idea where the cord would have been stored 'for ship' to dealer but I wouldn't have expected it to be tethered to the car.

But maybe, 'just maybe' the OP is involved in 'Marketing' for Fram - can you offer up considerable known 'FACT' to substantiate your 'worthless' statement? Are there good, better & best of all manufacturers? Your claim is substantiated by?

Just askin'!!

....a PLETHORA of internet testing, professional testing and articles/docs by mags and other sources.

While you're totally right that there are "Good", "Better", and "Best" for many brands....that is a PH filter...an "Extra Guard". Bottom of Frams line and absolute dog ****. If it were a Fram "XP" (Ultra Synthetic), that would be anther story....but I still wouldn't buy one b/c Fram also makes and pawns off the PH "Extra Guard" line as a quality product. Which it's not.

But 'noted' @Whaleman didn't return to the thread! I asked 'him'! He's been around most of the AM! I didn't actually disagree - and wouldn't argue but if I say it's 'RED' then I need to be prepared.

OP didn't ask about the filter! He asked about the 'circled in yellow' object!

Not from me but the user who I addressed certainly didn't return with 'substantiation'!

@Whaleman - for your eyes only!!

The OP 'DID NOT' ask about the damn filter! Had you stuck to responding to the OP's request you would need NOT ask Tom for support! Had you maybe 'suggested other than' the installed there might be differing opinions! Were I the OP I'd be damn angry. I might not care for your 'pink shoe laces' but I ain't told a soul!!

When I see something that will help a forum member I would be remiss to not mention it. Sorry if you don't think the purpose of this forum is to help others. Dan

Help or supply an OPINION?

Well it's now assumed you can read ... so how did you manage to miss the OP's question? What is this plug?

Like I said, had you 'mentioned' a 'while you're there' thought I'd have likely not even mentioned it, Help & suggestions is very different than the 'one liner' in post #8

The purpose of your link #15 is what? I didn't and don't generally just do clicks!
